The Hadley Jr. High Band Program
The Hadley Jr. High Band Program is home to students in grades 6-8, with participation in six concert bands and extra-curricular jazz bands. Our goal is to provide students a place to grow musically, socially, and academically.
The students meet daily for 39-minute classes during the school day where they develop instrument-specific skills, alongside the use of SmartMusic, Sight Reading Factory, and method book material. Students also rehearse great pieces of band literature and work toward the goal of performing together for concerts, festivals, and the like. The jazz bands meet after school to learn the skills of jazz articulation, style, and improvisation. Other opportunities may include solo and ensemble festivals, organizational festivals, and joint events with our surrounding K-12 Glen Ellyn school music programs.
8th Grade Band - Mrs. Tribley and Mr. Cooper
There are two sections of 8th Grade Band. Each section rehearses daily during the school day and works to develop technique and instrument-specific skills as well as concert repertoire. This is accomplished through the use of method books, concert literature, and other resources. The two sections of 7th Grade Band will perform separately for our winter and spring concerts. Rehearsals are an opportunity to work together on the concert repertoire and hone ensemble skills. The 8th Grade Band performs challenging repertoire and participates in school and community performances.

Jazz Band
Extra-Curricular 7th & 8th Grade Jazz Bands - Mrs. Tribley and Mr. Cooper
Jazz Bands are by grade level, rehearsing from 3:45 - 4:45 pm. The Jazz Bands rehearse on Mondays after school. On most weeks when students are not in attendance on Monday or Tuesday, due to a school holiday or institute day, the jazz bands will meet instead on another afternoon.
Students will be placed in a jazz band by both their grade level and ability or experience. All wind instruments and rhythm section instruments (piano, drum set, guitar, double bass and bass guitar) are eligible to play. If more than two students per rhythm section instrument are interested, we may have tryouts. Students will study the basic skills and concepts of the genre and prepare repertoire for two concerts.
